2025 Depression Research Summit
Columbia Psychiatry and the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression hosted Hope Over the Horizon: Breakthroughs in Depression and Suicide Research on Monday, January. 27, 2025.
Depression is the leading mental health disorder worldwide, affecting millions of individuals and families. Its impact is devastating, with many experiencing increased suicide risk throughout their lifespan. Hope Over the Horizon, made possible by support from the Saks Fifth Avenue Foundation, shed light on the latest clinical research initiatives on depression and suicide, focusing on how these findings translate into practical solutions for everyday life.

2024 Depression Research Summit
Columbia Psychiatry and the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression hosted Hope Over the Horizon: Improving Depression Outcomes and Reducing Suicide Risk on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024. The symposium featured presentations by Columbia experts on new innovations and breakthroughs in depression and suicide research and treatment.

2023 Depression Research Summit
The Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression, in the Psychiatry Department at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, hosted a virtual Depression Summit on February 14 and February 16, 2023. The theme was "Understanding Suicide Risk in Children, Adolescents, & Young Adults.”

2021 Depression Research Summit
To commemorate the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Depression’s official launch, co-directors Dr. Randy Auerbach and Dr. J. John Mann hosted a free, virtual event series that showcased over 20 esteemed researchers in the fields of depression, suicide prevention, and resilience. The summit was held over three consecutive Wednesdays—June 9, 16, and 23, 2021—and featured three keynote speakers and six panel sessions.
The keynote presenters included Huda Akil, PhD, from the University of Michigan, Mary Phillips, MD, from the University of Pittsburgh, and Carlos Zarate Jr, MD, from the National Institute of Mental Health.
