Overview

Melissa Klosk, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist within the Pediatric Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and is an Instructor of Medical Psychology in Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC). Dr. Klosk provides supervision to doctoral-level psychology students and is involved in the general training of child psychiatry fellows.

Dr. Klosk specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families through individual, group, dyadic, and family modalities. Dr. Klosk uses evidenced-based treatments for individuals managing internalizing and externalizing psychiatric disorders, neurodevelopmental disabilities, as well as complex trauma. Dr. Klosk has extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and uses DBT to support high-risk adolescents and their families. In addition, Dr. Klosk works with caregivers and their young children who have complex trauma presentations through Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). She has significant experience navigating the special education system, providing psychological assessments, consulting with teachers, and teaching parenting skills. Dr. Klosk is passionate about eradicating barriers to accessing mental health care and seeks to increase awareness about mental health through providing community presentations, teaching workshops, and being involved in the program development of clinical services to reach underserved communities.

Dr. Klosk received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Public Communications from Syracuse University. She received her M.S.Ed. and Psy.D. in School-Clinical Child Psychology from Pace University. Dr. Klosk completed her APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center/Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
