T. Scott Stroup, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Before joining the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and the New York State Psychiatric Institute in 2009 he was Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Stroup's research focuses on the effectiveness of interventions and services for people diagnosed with schizophrenia and related illnesses. He was co-principal investigator of the NIMH-sponsored Clinical Antipsychotic Trials of Intervention Effectiveness (CATIE) study. As director of the Schizophrenia Trials Network he directs studies examining treatment strategies for schizophrenia. His interests include global mental health and the dissemination of evidence-based practices and other efforts to improve quality of care.
