Randy Lai, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, is a board-certified general psychiatrist with specialty training in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry (fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC). His areas of expertise include the treatment of individuals with mood disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder), as well as the treatment of the psychiatric and cognitive manifestations of inflammatory and/or neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Dr. Lai’s treatment approach varies depending on the needs of the patient. After conducting a careful evaluation, therapeutic recommendations to promote mental well-being may include brief supportive therapy, medication management, stress reduction techniques, and/or consideration of life-style modifications. In addition to his practice of general psychiatry, Dr. Lai is a research clinician at the Lyme & Tick-borne Diseases Research Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
