
Overview
Jeanette R. Minson is a licensed clinical social worker and Associate in Psychiatric Social Work at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). She earned her MSW from Columbia University’s School of Social Work, where she received the Overbrook Fellowship for Advanced Clinical Practice. Jeanette also holds a BFA in Drama with Honors from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, blending her deep understanding of the performing arts with clinical expertise.
An interdisciplinary professional, Jeanette’s therapeutic work is uniquely informed by her career as an actor and in tech working at startups and venture capital in New York City over the past decade. This diverse background gives her special insight and empathy for the challenges faced by performers, entrepreneurs, and other high-achieving individuals navigating anxiety, performance anxiety, and career-related stress.
At CUIMC’s Lieber Recovery Clinic, Jeanette provides individual and group therapy, integrating person-centered and evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and psychodynamic therapy. She holds certifications in Motivational Interviewing and Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy. Jeanette is committed to fostering therapeutic relationships grounded in warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and collaboration.
Jeanette has a strong clinical focus on executive function challenges, helping clients struggling with planning, time management, emotional regulation, task initiation, and follow-through. She is particularly passionate about supporting those whose executive functioning difficulties intersect with anxiety, identity development, and career performance. Drawing from her own journey balancing the demands of creativity and business, Jeanette offers tailored support to those striving for both personal and professional growth.
Jeanette is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers and has previously served as Columbia University’s School of Social Work ambassador to the association.
