Overview
George E Sayde, MD, MPH, is a double board-certified internist and consultation-liaison psychiatrist with advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. His clinical and academic work focuses on the complex interplay between medical and psychiatric illness, including the psychological dimensions of hospitalization, critical illness, and recovery. He currently serves as the attending psychiatrist on the General Clinical Research Unit at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he is also involved in research, teaching, and supervision.

Research
Dr. Sayde’s research centers on the psychological impact of critical illness and hospitalization on both patients and their families. His work aims to improve the identification and treatment of complications related to the intensive care unit (ICU). He has led a clinical trial in the ICU and multiple post-ICU clinic pilot studies, with ongoing interdisciplinary collaborations across the Departments of Medicine, Critical Care, and Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
