Overview

Blair Uniacke, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is the Unit Chief of the inpatient eating disorders unit within Columbia’s Eating Disorder Center for Treatment and Research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Uniacke received her BA from the College of the Holy Cross and MD from Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons. She completed her psychiatry residency at Columbia, where she served as chief resident, followed by a National Institute of Mental Health T32 research fellowship in the Biobehavioral Disturbances of Eating Disorders at Columbia and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Dr. Uniacke’s research focuses on the biobehavioral mechanisms underlying anorexia nervosa and atypical anorexia nervosa in acutely ill patients. This work has been funded by a Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) Young Investigator Award, a Paul Janssen Fellowship in Translational Neuroscience, the Hilda and Preston Davis Foundation, and the Leon Levy Foundation. An educator and mentor to psychiatry fellows, residents, and medical students, she received the American Psychiatric Association's Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Teaching Residents and co-authored the APA Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Eating Disorders.
