Research Study for Children and Teens with ADHD

September 27, 2016

Does your child or teen…

  • Have difficulty concentrating?
  • Seem restless or overactive?
  • Easily distracted?
  • Seem to act or talk without thinking?

If so, your child may be eligible to participate in our research study of an FDA-approved stimulant medication for ADHD. The research study uses brain imaging before and after treatment to try to understand how the medication works.

The study has three parts:

  1. Comprehensive evaluations which include parent and child interviews, questionnaires, and cognitive tests for your child
  2. Magnetic resonance imaging which uses strong magnets instead of radiation to take pictures of your child’s brain, and
  3. Three months of medication and/or behavioral therapy for ADHD. During treatment, you and your child will come in for weekly visits.

All study-related procedures are FREE and take place at New York State Psychiatric Institute in Manhattan. You and your child will be compensated for your time.
