Overview

Trained in clinical neurology, basic neuroscience at the NIH (national institute for neurological disorders and stroke), adult psychiatry and psychopharmacology at Columbia University. Neuropsychiatric disorders research in basic neuroscience in the pathogenesis and neurochemistry of spongiform encephalopathies (prion disorders), such as Creutzfeld-Jakob disease and fatal familial Insomnia. Neuropsychiatric clinical research in prefrontal cortex disorders and Parkinson's disease.

Currently, he is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University, New York, NY. His academic honors include: 1) 1991 Diploma of Honor to Highest Ranking Student in graduating class University of Chile School of Medicine.

2) 1991 Highest ranking medical graduate of all medical schools in Chile.

3) 1991 The 1991 Prize of Honor College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chile.

4) 1987 Dr. Jorge Gonzalez-Cruchaga Prize in Neurology.

Clinical work comprises diagnosis and treatment of patients with mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder and neuropsychiatric disorders.
