Overview

Dr. Jessica M. Haddad is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, with particular clinical and academic interests in college student mental health, suicide prevention and postvention in educational settings, and the intersection of psychiatric care with digital and educational environments.

Dr. Haddad’s scholarly work spans topics including the mental health impacts of social media, barriers to care in youth and young adults, and psychiatric comorbidities in medically complex populations. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Current Psychiatry Reports, Journal of Genetic Counseling, and Psychiatric Annals, and is a contributing author to leading medical textbooks on college mental health and cancer genetics. Her research integrates public health, education, and psychiatry to improve help-seeking behaviors, destigmatize mental illness, and inform evidence-based policy and postvention practices across school and university systems.

Her work has been recognized through numerous academic presentations, including at the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the National Network of Depression Centers. Dr. Haddad also serves as a mentor to students and trainees at multiple levels, and has led initiatives in student wellness, peer support, and procedural education during her medical and postgraduate training.

Dr. Haddad completed her psychiatry residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Columbia and Weill Cornell Medical Centers. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and holds medical licenses in both New York and Massachusetts. Her clinical work emphasizes early intervention, equity in access to psychiatric care, and bridging the gap between research, education, and clinical practice to support youth mental health across diverse populations.
