Mental illness can have an overwhelming effect on people's lives. Many people have a psychiatric disorder or know someone who does.

YOU can help in many ways!
We have an extensive Volunteer Program at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry. Volunteers work closely with employees in many divisions, primarily in our Research Programs. They are an essential part of the staff, and work in a wide range of positions.
By making a charitable contribution to the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University, you can be assured that your gift will make a difference in enhancing research, education, or clinical care of individuals with psychiatric disorders.
Gray Matters at Columbia was established by a mother who lost her son to suicide after a long and difficult struggle with schizophrenia. A donation made in a loved one’s name often helps families transcend their loss through the knowledge that they are helping someone else.
You can participate in a Clinical Trial. Well-performed clinical trials are the best way to discover treatments that are safe and effective.
